lyrics

Praise the Sun

First comes the fall! You’ve got to drag yourself back up and start again.
Sometimes, it’s like addiction’s creeping through my veins. It whispers ‘start again”.

Once, upon the edge of the world I stared
Into absence, darkness embraced me and held me close.
I felt its tender temptations begging me to taste,
But every step I dragged myself through showed me how to start again.
And find my way back to you.

The sun begins to rise, its golden aura burns,
Ashes falling start to taint the sky.

Each step brought us closer to an answer,
We weren’t sure that we ever wanted or needed to hear.
You say I have to wait my turn. But I want it all!
You say we failed you; well, I say fuck you!
We’ll be born again. We’ll make our way back home to start again.

The sun begins to rise, its golden aura burns,
Ashes falling start to taint the sky.

Take these moments when you thought you’d lived a life, not just cast a shadow in the dying light.
Run your fingers through the oceans of denial,
Let go when you know you’ve finally reached the end.

Drown in the warm light of day.
Encased in the soft touch of gold.
How can we go on this way?
Indecision cripples me.
I turn my face up to the blistered sky,
Encased in gold.
It bathes my worn and battered face,
Its gentle kiss a soft caress.
Praise.

Sunrise blinding, it burns my eyes.
Casts reflections of the sunlight
Ashes falling that taint the sky,
Cover footsteps left from times gone by.

(The sun begins to rise,
Its golden aura burns.
Ashes taints the sky for eternity)
